It's the same schlocky-actioner premise where a plain vanilla guy's life gets entangled with that of an assassin's, and their subsequent, foreseeable transformations. If the poster doesn't give you hints of what kind of a film this is, then the director's name (Patrick Hughes, who made The Hitman's Bodyguard and the PG-13 part III of The Expendables) certainly will. The roles don't challenge either Hart or Harrelson, as they've done this way too many times. The humor is sparse, and surprisingly enough, the action itself isn't all that exciting, save for a spontaneous set-piece that takes place inside a gym. The ladies (including the talented Kaley Cuoco) are wasted in inconsequential roles. What really surprises me is the PG-13 rating with all the faux-violence. The Man From Toronto is just another Netflix entry that'll be forgotten in a week or two!
Fmovies: It spent that whole pile of cash on the script for this absolute mess, wasting the talents of some pretty good actors. This was awful. It wasn't funny. There was no charisma between actors. The plot was stupid. And I was stupid for actually watching a whole half hour of this before giving up.
I was reading through a few reviews that marked this movie as terrible.
What are they expecting from a movie like this? Shakespeare? This is action comedy! And what does it not provide for you in that genre. Kevin Hart is being just like Kevin Hart. That's what people want when they select a show like this. Woody Harrelson did an excellent job of his standardized villain persona.
All movies are not on the same level, but for the level this one is on, I think they did a good job. Even "actors" have to make money.
The Man from Toronto fmovies. Spoiler Alert! Another movie that is completely revealed in the trailer. So why bother with the film? There's nothing funny in this, just ridiculous fights scenes like an episode of Itchy and Scratchy but without the wit. I defy anyone who thought this was funny to repeat a single funny line from the film.
Once again, written by people who probably do nothing but watch movies and TV. Note to writers: try reading books and maybe your scripts won't be exactly like the last twenty movies you watched. The entire premise was just about as stupid as movies can be, and then it went downhill fast. Even the name is dumb and pointless.
Maybe lower your sights a little bit and enjoy some good, campy fun. Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart together in a buddy comedy.
Oh, and never run out of printer toner. You have been warned.
Like in Zombieland.
I really enjoyed this one.
Good popcorn fun.
Kevin was annoying at times but thats on the 'Kevin Hart vehicle' bit, so you just have to ignore it.
But, definitely worth a watch better than most out right now.
Seems the older actio/comedy films are starting to get back to basics.
