Average action movie with some sparks of comedy and passable performances and situations. Van Damme is a veteran who fights against two bands of bad guys in a old and forgotten little town in the middle of the desert. A piece of "Yojimbo" here and some comical scenes with Pat Morita helps to give this a diferent tone among the other movies starred by Van Damme. I give this a 05 (five).

Fmovies: I've got to say that I'm a big van damme fan. After watching probably all his notable films I'm an addict.

I saw desert heat in a local shop and was shocked because I hadn't heard of it before. I instantly bought it and got the lads round to watch it.

I have never laughed so much in my life! What a top film, even if van damme does only pull off about three kicks in the entire film this has excellent comedy value.

Also with the presence of Jaime Pressly(Fit!) and moby look alike Vern this is top notch stuff!

STAR RATING:*****Unmissable.****Very Good.***Okay.**You Could Go Out For A Meal Instead.*Avoid At All Costs.

Granted the Belgian one's recent spate of work has been the deplorable 'Knock Off'and, although I hav'nt seen it(don't want to)rather repellent 'Universal Soldier:The Return',and granted the overall quality of the movie,Inferno is a Van Damme movie I rather enjoyed. The opening scene especially,of Van Damme in the desert with the nutty Mexican bloke off 'Con Air' and 'Point Blank' was very well written and strangely effecting. You also got to feel for the resident's of the town, including the 2 pretty waitresses, the old guy,and the standard wise old Japanese guy.And there was of course, some great kickboxing action,at the end especially.

Also, towards the end especially, the movie loses it's sense of pace a bit,and goes a bit awry. And the gunfights wer'nt great. But overall, these were minor quibbles in a very entertaining action vehicle.****

Inferno fmovies. "Desert Heat" is JCVD's second direct-to-video film (his first was "Legionnaire"). After watching this, I just realized this isn't just your typical action film. This movie is action filled with comedy (with costars like Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi from "The Karate Kid," Vincent Schiavelli, and Bill Erwin). It's just a good mix. Now, I'm a big fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme and I love all of his films (including his big duds and failures like "Street Fighter," "Double Team," Maximum Risk," "Knock Off," etc.) but, this is one of his best films. If you like Van Damme, then you're in for a treat. Enjoy this movie while you can.

A+ 13/13 ****** (out of ****** stars)

I saw this movie on Tv. It started good with showing a coyote running in the desert. But after that it became machoactioncomedy. As Van Damme fan I could watch it. I even enjoyed somehow. The story is simple: Bad guys steal his bike that belong to his friend and shoot him. He survives and he wants revenge and take his bike back. The movie tries to be this spiritual movie and it even succeeds in it but the comedy kinda spoils it. I liked the set where the movie was shot. The old people were funny. Ohh that sex scene was hilarious. There is man who goes straight to action! And of cource everybody love Van Dammes martial art kicks and we see them. They save best for end of the film. Checkout Pat Morita from Karate Kid series. Danny Trejo played JCVD´s mysterious friend. Like every review I tell you: If you are Van Damme fan you might like it. The movie went straight to video but I think it would do okay in the Box Office. Overall **/*****

I keep telling folks that it is not a good idea to remake Japanese movies. This is an attempt to do the 1962 film YOJIMBO again. It doesn't work, but that doesn't mean it not worth your time.

OK, so some very stupid yahoos decide to kick Van Damme around when he is severely depressed and suicidal and steal his gun and motorcycle. These boys are the local counterfeiters/drug dealers/village thugs. You can guess what comes next.

What sets this film apart is the inclusion of Pat Morita (154 films!), Danny Trejo (139 films, including the upcoming Grindhouse), and Trailer-Trash Queen Jaime Pressly.

It's really a very funny Van Damme movie and worth checking out. At least some passionate action returns.
