The movie revolves around the life of small Baris who is living in the prison with his mother. His mother took the blame when his father was caught dealing drugs. Inci is a political prisoner, in prison for her left-wing opinions; she is also Baris's best friend, they invent games, they look at the kites, the birds and they dream.

The author of the story was also a political prisoner during the years of oppression following the military coup in Turkey.

The movie provides good insight into the prison life and things could only be worse in reality.

The kite is the symbol of freedom, literally freedom in Baris's case and freedom of thought for Inci.

Fmovies: Ucurtmayi Vurmasilar is a movie having two deep perspectives. On one hand, movie is about a child, living in prison and trying to learn about the world by just the talking of his mothers and other women prisoner and gaining experiences only when his mother is going to court of justice.the soldier bringing him and his mother to the court becomes a hero in his mind and sharing and eating a "simit" (savory roll covered with sesame seed) with him becomes the most important moment of his childhood.Watching him to grow in this environment gives a hopeless and sad feeling to the watcher. But, on the other hand, being loved and cared about a group of women effects his personality.Being parted from men's world gives a very gentile and sensitive character to Baris, he is open to all emotions and his feelings are given openly during the scenario. And also the move gives many information about the justice system of Turkey and about the 12 September period of Turkey's history. The movie gives too many information about Turkey. I can recommend the movie as a documentary also.

'Ucurtmayi Vurmasinlar' is the work of Feride Cicekoglu who spent some of her life in prisons because of her ideological beliefs. So,this film makes as its subject lives of imprisoned people, their hopes, sufferings and emotions lively. When, you watch the film, you feel deeply inside the little world of a little boy who does not know his father and whose life is confined to his mother. He meets Inci, the main female character in the film. His life improves remarkably and esteems Inci's presence in his life greatly. In watching this film, you can shed light into women's prisons and common activities involved.Fierce competition amongst women, intensity of desires created by lack of men, attempts to establish a more telarable life inside 4 walls, are excellently touched from beginning to the end.

When I watched this film for the first time,I remember having cried much tears after seeing little love of great-hearted boy,Ozan. He is so talented, succesful and realistic in his role.

You must see Nur Surer starring Inci too.She consolidated her reputation thanks to this production.
