The Ottoman Republic (2008)

I watched this film las week. I was wondering that film..it said that '' if Ataturk isn't been'' always. someone have to film that idea and have to make good ..of course that person may be Gani Müjde. if I choice that person you can sure I would choice Gani Müjde. because I had seen 'Kahpe Bizans' and I had liked and laughed.. I thought that movie must be like that.. But I couldn't find my expectations in the film. Film is like theater game..there is no crowd at scenes , visually .I thin it used low budge for movie.That idea deserves more budge. there is unnecessary love story in movie too Osman VII between a girl who is resistance. Ata Demirer said that ''they didn't use me'' too. I mean there is a lot of absents in that film..intent is good ,idea is good but movie is not good enough..

Fmovies: As I was just praising Turkish movies how they have been successful recently and more and more quality movies have been produced I got hit by this ''Osmanli Cumhuriyeti'' disaster. Although movie claims itself as a comedy and drama, it is actually not. There is nothing in this movie, NOTHING. It's not a comedy, it is not a drama, it is certainly not a documentary. Director Gani Mujde should do all of us a favor not to direct any more movies. Just quit directing movies like this and go back to writing that he is great at. Instead of being a horrible movie director just be a great humorist. Another embarrassment is seeing Faith Solmaz as a screen writer in this movie. Such a great humorist became a part of this poor movie.

To make a long story short, this movies sucks With simplest meaning of the word it is worth nothing. I am a fan of Demirer but he does not change my idea. I did my best to laugh during the movie without any success. You need to force yourself to have some fun from that movie. I am an historian I like the movies somehow have connection with history. But I must tell Gani Müjde and his so-called scenario are totally worthless. And if someone tries to find a scapegoat for the failure of this movie I might choose him. But all in all nobody is worth to be watched in this movie. This is not all because of the actors. After all there are good actors that I like to watching despite the fact that most of them are no worth. But with this scenario which does not present anything to be seen as worth something Even Alpacino could not have changed the fate of this movies which simply sucks... Sorry to make that comment but one needs to tell the truth. Especially someone like me who paid for nothing in return for watching this worthless movie, not counting the time that I had spent for it

The Ottoman Republic fmovies. This movie is good answer from Gani Mujde to Can Dundar! Congrulations Mr Mujde. Good Job! Anyway. If you're not Turkish you can understand anything about this film. This is funny comedy. This film effected by George Bush's World Ideas. If you're American 99% you don't like it. But If you're nationalist Turkish like me Of course You like it. Anyway This is not just a comedy film. It's politic comedy movie. Congrulations Ata Demirer and Vildan... Nice casting... If you want to learn Turkey without Mr Kemal Ataturk You must watch it ASAP... (As Soon As Possible) Thanks again Gani Mujde and all workers for this film... Also This film casted without big capitalist companies' sponsorship...

Great Piece of work that shows everyone what the Ottoman Empire would have been become without Ataturk. This Movie describes a "modern" Ottoman Empire under the control of America and Europe. And it is for sure, that such a parallel (or more even worst) would happen to the Ottomans. Here are some facts now that shows, why this movie, is not just based on fiction.

Facts :

Of course some People didn't recognize the Ottoman Empires situation in the late 19th century. An Empire with high technological level in the high medieval times ended up as a low technological empire in the industrial age (simple example : after nearly 200 years later they received the Gutenberg Machine).

In 1919 the Ottoman Empire has received the orders to disband their Army and they did it.

In the Treaty of Sèvres it was planned to cut the Ottoman Empire into pieces. All important regions were under the control of the victorious opponents. The Ottoman Empire accepted it!

Summary : This movie shows exactly, what this worst case for todays Turkey would have been if Ataturk didn't existed those days.

We watched this wonderful movie. İt's exceed our expectation.Only the thing is missing, I indicated at the summary.So many non Turkish background ( middle eastern etc. )were present at the movie.I am sure they enjoyed at some points but,they didn't understand main purpose of the movie story. Because we are the Turkısh background,We know our history so,we can understand what's going on in the stream of the movie. You have some introduction of course,beginning of the movie but,those are not enough for non Turkish people.I don't think it's so difficult to add simple writing introduction at the beginning of this wonderful movie for foreign watchers. Many regards.
