French films usually give me the crêpes <-- see what I did there ;p
Novice French writer and director Patrice Laliberté makes his first full length feature film debut with this little gem, and nailed it.
The directing and cinematography were spot-on. Location setting in the vast northern Quebec region was spectacular - I wish more aerial landscape shots were shown. The score was perfect and not overbearing. The casting and performances were excellent and very convincing. What I really enjoyed was the no-nonsense non-Hollywood-ish real-life writing. It felt sort of like a live documentary shoot gone bad. Although the pacing in the beginning was a little slow, it picked up when the suspense began. The 83 min runtime wasn't too long, in fact, I wanted more.
If you're into wilderness/survivalist films, you will love this. I'm not, but still really enjoyed it. Props to Netflix for picking up this little French gem and dubbing it in so many languages.
It's a well deserved 8/10 from me
Fmovies: It suppose to be movie of surviving, but they missed the mark. It was a fair movie but nothing I would watch again.
"Jusqu'au Declin" is a camp fire nightmare that will have you tensed up the entire time. . In this suspense thriller, a fatal accident at a remote survivalist training camp sends participants into a panic, and sets them up for a chilling showdown. . The story is rough around the edges but "Jusqu'au Déclin" brings entertainment for 80-minutes. For a film made in Quebec, it's quite good but not great. I appreciated the approach, which may now pave the path for stronger films of this genre to come out of the province. It is pretty cool to see a Quebec film on Netflix. The cast is good, the tension is high, the action is there but the script is the issue here and they're too many loose ends. . Follow @snobmedia for more reviews!
The Decline fmovies. I am proud to be Québécois. This first Netflix Quebec production was very enjoyable. I would dream to own a bug out site like the one portrayed in this movie in case the actual pandemic leads to world chaos.
It is a very good movie from Quebec. The action keep going on and the reactions of the characters are well performed. I would recommend this movie without hesitation and I even had the trill for the third of the movie. It's mostly realistic and made me nervous.
Sorry for the"bad" english :)
I thought this was a pretty good thriller about a Survivalist Training Camp that went wrong. There were enough thrills and twists to keep the movie interesting throughout. Excellent performances also by the Actors and Actresses involved.
