It is so bad that I couldn't stop laughing the whole time while watching this. Acting was brutal, dialogue seems Cheesy, and a bit both racist and sexist. Story was filled with plot-holes and inconsistency. Most funniest scenes were the action sequences. I just kept LMAO when the action sequences were playing. Editing and cutting was awful. A single fight scene was taken in 3 different locations. On another scene, wig came off of the main character, and it was clearly visible. Color correction was bad. Screen was getting tinted with blue, purple and pink randomly. All the woman in this film seems like acting in a porn movie. They couldn't hold on to their pants for 5 minutes, after meeting with the main protagonist!!!! In every romantic scene, It felt like watching an Adult movie! Jokes were terrible and funny in the wrong way. Every film maker should watch this film to learn 'how a film shouldn't be made, ever'!

Fmovies: Sure to be a cult classic here in the states as it was in Europe. There's plenty of action and full breasted babes in action to keep you interested when the dialogue gets you laughing. At it, not with it. Not to mention a mullet here or there to remind when this film was first made. So, your best bet may be to watch it with the Joe Bob Briggs commentary track. A group of friends and I watched it together and Joe Bob's comments had us laughing our asses off. I guess there's no chance for a sequel since most of the cool characters die by hara-kiri, beheading, death by sword, fire or get shot off a roof. But our hero and his comedic partner could always return..if they're not in convalescent home by now. If you can't get your hands on the this Joe Bob Briggs DVD don't despair, this film will surely show up on, "Dinner and a movie", or "Mystery Science Theater 3000".

I guess I was behind the curve on finding out about this messterpiece, but about a year ago I was clued in and have seen it several times since, as well as seeing the Kickstarter fueled Samurai Cop 2 in its theatrical run, no less.

But let's get back to the original. A highly incompetent Lethal Weapon ripoff mixed with a ninja film, this was barely released direct to video in 1991 and thereafter floundered in obscurity. It may have actually gotten a theatrical release in some lesser nation; I know there was a movie poster from Poland which served as the basis for the first DVD cover. Years later, some hipsters dug it up and thanks to the internet, it developed a well-deserved and appreciative dedicated cult fandom.

Although plagued with nonsensical writing, bad acting, non-existent direction, hack-job editing and video-game level musical score, Samurai Cop is actually a hilarious entertainment experience, unlike the even worse action/exploitation flick also made by an Iranian immigrant, the diabolical Dangerous Men. Where Dangerous Men is filthy, difficult to watch and depressing as hell, Samurai Cop is rollicking, goofy and insane.

A lot of this appeal is due to the good will engendered by the two leads, Matt Hannon and Mark Fraser, who ended up doing very little after this film, career-wise, which is a shame.

Half the script makes no sense as it is an impression of American films and American culture written by an outsider, English-as-a- Second-Language auteur, director Amir Shervan. Lead actor Hannon wears a cheap ladies' wig through much of the film as he had gone off during a break and cut his hair short (to be fair, Shervan told him the film was done and called him to come back for more shooting about six months later).

Special effects are bargain basement, fight choreography is nearly non-existent, and the Japanese gang with only one Japanese person in it must be seen to be believed. At this point you probably don't need my recommendation to go see this as the film's reputation for hilarity is probably up there next to Tommy Wiseau's The Room by now. I'd even recommend repeat viewings as there's probably more laughs to be mined after the first go round. See it before you get shipped back to Tokyo in a garbage bag for fertilizer!

Samurai Cop fmovies. This Movie is so bad, It's funny. The Horrible Acting, The Even worse music, and the fact for a person who was trained by the masters of Japan, Can't fight for beans! A Movie Complete with a Womanizing Super-Cop, Very Rasist Comments, and Cheesy Fight sences. If you like Corny Movies, You will LOVE Samurai Cop!!!

A womanizing super samurai cop and his black side-kick go after the Yakuza. This film is bad..REALLY bad, it's also pretty damn funny. Matt Hannon stars as the samurai cop who looks more like a gay poolboy in the best movie of his long varied career of one film. Robert Z'dar (Maniac Cop) is the right-hand man of the bad guy. Definately a guilty pleasure movie with it's jaw-droppingly insanely stupid dialog, the horrible "action", the unneeded flamingly gay waiter, and well you just have to see it for yourself.

My bad-movie grade: A

Media Blaster Dvd Extras: Joe Bob Brigg's intro and commentary!!! (which is GREAT); Robert Z'Dar Interview; Stills gallery;Trailers for "Sex Bomb" (which is awful), "Strike Me Deadly", "Blood Shack", and "Mission Kill Fast"

Eye Candy: ALL the main actoresses get topless and one gets fully nude

There isn't enough praise I could lavish upon this masterpiece. It's the quintessential bad movie. I have seen a myriad of terrible movies and while some come close to the excellence of Samurai Cop (Miami Connection, Bolero, Deadly Prey etc.) nothing can ever top it. It's quite sad but I believe that no matter how many bad films I watch, nothing will ever come close to how amazing Samurai Cop is. I have seen all the other Amir Shervan movies he's made in America and whilst all of them exhibit some qualities that made Samurai Cop great, none of them are even half as good. Samurai Cop was the last movie Amir made and it seems that all the other movies were just stepping stones on the way to perfection. And so after making this gem he decided to retire, knowing that he has made a flawless film that he will be remembered for. Rest in peace Amir and thank You for giving us this gift. It will transcend generations and forever be remember as the Godfather of bad movies.
