I got to see this movie as sneak preview, let me tell you the movie was 100% hilarious. Well, because this was a last minute decision to go, I ended up going alone. But I met a nice gay guy and a pregnant girl in line, and sat with them... And to the left of me sat an older couple in their late 50's... My point is we were all laughing hysterically through the whole movie. However, even though there was no nudity or fowl language, the adult content is way too much for any child. But if you are an adult with an open mind, this movie is perfect for you... Being a female in my late 20's this movie gave me the need to come out of the closet and be a drag queen... LOL..Enjoy I did....

Fmovies: I enjoyed Connie and Carla. Being a fan of musicals and Nia Vardalos, this film was a match made in heaven. The plot is not insightful and as this is not meant to be a cerebral offering, don't expect to have your brain cells challenged. Connie and Carla is a romp and I defy anyone not to be cheered by it. Follow Connie and Carla from singing in a cheerless airport lounge to Los Angeles as they flee a killer. Similar to Sister Act in the premise. The only way to hide and still sing, they dress as Drag Queens, but with a difference.... They can actually sing and don't lip sync. Throw in a little romance, a hilarious assassin, an ailing Drag club, brotherly love, good laughs and great songs and you have a mix that will draw you in with it's warmth and goodwill. Grab your girlfriends and tuck in!

For pete's sakes, I've seen all those other movies just like the rest of ya - Some Like It Hot, Priscilla, all the rest. No, this isn't that. Yes, there are lots of similarities.

So what?

We're sitting here four years into the most oppressive administration in US history, and we need a lighten up. Fun as it is we can't watch Nemo every single night.

The simple truth is that this movie is fun. Set aside the attitude, let your Higher Standards go, and just simply enjoy the fun. Toni is one of the finest actresses of our day. Nia is a fine up and coming talent. Show tunes are fun. Fun!

Worry about the Higher Standards another day.

Connie and Carla fmovies. A hilarious, fun-filled romance with a semi-serious message about the risks of being true to one's self. Ms. Vardalos comes through again in a witty piece about living life and following one's dream no matter what the cost. She wrote and produced the film, so her usually optimistic and mischievous stamp is imprinted without hesitation. The music was stunning and joyfully rendered by both Ms. Vardalos and Ms. Colette. All the actors were more than competent and seemed to enjoy themselves immensely. The tidbits of drag lore sprinkled throughout were especially charming and interesting. The movie fulfills the promise of uplifting, enjoyable entertainment, so often unfilled by cinema today. I loved it!

Connie (Nia Vardalos) and Carla (Toni Collette) have been putting on musical shows since their school days. Although the audiences are mostly small and nonplussed, they keep plugging away, singing their hearts out. After witnessing a mobster's murder, however, they head from the heartland to Los Angeles. There, by a strange turn of events, they score as drag queens in a gay bar. It's good cover from the mob that's after them but, how will it affect their chances for romance? This is a darling movie with plenty of spunk and sparkle. Vardalos and Collette are funny and charming as the gals with a big secret under their costumes. David Duchovny, as always, gives a vibrant, appealing performance as the love interest for Connie. The costumes are just amazingly wonderful and abundant. Then, too, the gentlemen who portray the other drag queens are touching, amusing, and brave. If you wish to giggle through a movie with plenty of heart and humanity, this is a good choice. If, however, you are somewhat offended by gay themes and situations, you could skip this film. Those who pass over this movie will nonetheless be missing something special.

this was a surprise, a nice surprise. How delightful to be entertained for a change and leave the movie with a smile on your face. It was almost a continual smile everytime you thought about the movie. Made the world seem sunnier. It was funny, well edited, and gave the audience a few things to think about in the meantime.! It did have a little resemblance to 'some like it hot', but not completely. Talented, smart, funny, and wonderfully canadian 'Via' has given Canada lots to be proud of..! I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone and everyone, and if I get the chance will see it again..thanks our winnipeg star..!
