The Critters series consists of two first movies which are worth watching, and two last which are definitely _not_. Critters 2: The Main Course is certainly better as far as special effects go, but I'll be sentenced to eternal damnation if I know which one is better.

The action is still very lively, with necessary thrills and frills; the bounty hunters are back (you know Critters 3 failed because Ug&Lee were painfully absent and Charlie decked out); there's your average amount of mild gore and explosions. Brad seems to be blander than in the original, but his grandmother makes up for that.

The disadvantages of the film are pretty much few and far between. There's the usual mound of logical errors. The number of Crite eggs in the beginning is circa 12-20, mysteriously grows into some 50 when Brad's grandma purchases them, then, lo-and-behold, there's about a THOUSAND Crites in that giant rolling ball..... erm, on the cover that is. Charlie, however wearing state-of-the-art (no joke, I want one) leather space armor, HASN'T GOT A GUN. What's he supposed to do, choke the Critters with his flesh? Nobody ever thinks what species the [alien] eggs might belong to. Charlie and Brad are kinda overardorous over their meeting, since they barely knew each other in the original. And so on, and so forth. I'm not mentioning all, take a paper and pen and have some fun while watching.

Despite all this, I say this is a good choice for some people. I've read wayyyy too many coments in the style of "ohhh, this is SUCH crap I don't know why I've seen it...". Well, why did you? This is not a film that tries to be deep, this is pure entertainment for the youth, for the die-hard sf fans, and for the braindead. I liked it as a kid, I still like it (20 this June), and will show it to my kids for fun and enjoyment.

OVERALL ADVICE: you're a kid, you've got some spare time on your hands, watch it and have fun.

Fmovies: I can't decide which is better. The original Critters,or this.I think they're not the same. I was very happy when I saw the movie first, because the like-able characters from Critters movie returns! In my opinion,it's the best sequel film I've ever seen. If I have to choose,Critters 2 is better then Gremlins 2. I give this movie 10 out of 10. Excellent! (I don't have to say:Mick Garris is a great director!) I agree with the good comments. In this film,we can see love, humor, horror, and sci-fi. A very good package! If you like 80's horror-comedy movies,YOU MUST SEE THIS! I'm not joking! But the original IMDb votes are...3,9 stars?! It's not fair! I want to give it 9-10 stars! OK,well,It's not a master-movie like Tarantino's movies, but Critters 1-2-3-4 are entertain you! The main course rocks!

Critters 2 both improves and falls short of the original. Though it gives the writers more freedom in imagination and the cute, little killer furballs and various ways to cause havoc it simply cannot escape the 'been there done that' factor that cripples most sequels.

Set 2 years after the first film, the people of Grover's Bend are shocked when Brad Brown comes home to visit his grandma. He was branded a liar and hoaxer and apparently no one believed his stories of the Krites and extra-terrestrial bounty hunters. Which is a little harsh considering they had several eaten humans and dead Krites as proof. And as soon as he returns, the Krite eggs seen at the very end of the first film begin to hatch and the feeding frenzy begins all over again on a bigger scale.

There's fun to be had in watching the critters go mental all over town. And the film could have been a four-starrer but there's a major lull at the end of the second act in which nothing happens and it really slows down. But the massive furball at the end is brilliant.

They really should have left the Critters movies after this and I wouldn't bother with 3 and 4. They're rubbish. Still the Krites are cute (I don't care what you say) and Brad's girlfriend is gorgeous too.

The DVD is in great looking 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen with Dolby 5.1 sound. Some trailers are included.

Critters 2 fmovies. Two years has passed... Brad Brown (Scott Grimes) is trying to move on by visiting his grand-mother (Herta Ware) for the easter holiday. The Bounty Hunters (Don Opper and Terrence Mann) are traveling back to Earth. Because the Critters were not completed destroyed. The Alien Eggs were not destroyed. Since Easter is coming, a small town somewhere in Kansas will discover that the Easter Holiday isn't everything.

Directed by Mick Garris (Pyscho 4:The Beginning, Sleepwalkers, The Stand) made an enjoyable sequel with better special effects and a bit more explicit violence. The film looks more like Joe Dante's Gremlins. This film was a box office disappointment. Critters 3 & 4 were direct to videos, because of the disappointment returns of Critters 2. The film also has likable performances by Tom Hodges, Liane (Alexandra) Curtis, Lin Shaye and Barry Corbin. Eddie Deezen (From Grease 1 and 2 Fame) has a bit part. Filmmaker:Tom Mc Loughlin (Friday the 13th Part 6-Jason Lives, Date with an Angel) has a cameo. Written by the director and David Thohy (The Arrival, Pitch Black). (*** ½/*****).

CRITTERS 2 has to be one of the best Sci-Fi/Horror films ever made!! It's a blockbuster!! It is full of great Special-Effects, Fun Characters, and it's an all-out good time! I'm surprised that this film doesn't have more recognition. There's action, suspense, and the countryside town of Grover's Bend gives the film a great Atmosphere. Scott Grimes is back as Bradley Brown, who returns to Grover's Bend to spend Easter Vacation with his Grandmother. Unfortunately, some of the Critter Eggs that had been undiscovered in the Brown's old Barn are about to hatch and the Town is in for a Big surprise!! Also returning are Don Opper AND Terrence Mann as the space-hopping Bounty Hunters who come to finish off what they thought they had destroyed before! The Town that never believed Brad Brown suddenly learns that the Critters are real and must all join forces to try and stop the critters before they become Lunch! The Critter Effects are Top-Notch and the film is fun and exciting!! Just like the first CRITTERS, Part 2 is a cult classic and deserves better recognition!!!

Critters 2: The Main Course was made in 1988, this one had alot of critters in it. so the end for the critters aren't over yet as we all wait for the 3rd and 4th to comewhich came out in 1991. I did enjoy this movie as part of it was like a cowboy style. I give this movie 10 out of 10.
