Beneath the Leaves (2019)

Great film with an amazing cast and lots of twists, and based on a true story. One of the top movies for the summer for sure!!!

Fmovies: What happened to Mira Sorvino? Why is she taking any role available? We may never get an answer to that but we have an answer to what rock bottom really is: this movie. Poorly written, pathetically directed, hilariously overacted, with effects that make Sci Fi Channel movies look competent, this is garbage. Three out of ten only because I feel sorry for Sorvino - she deserves better.

The central theme lying at the heart of 'Beneath The Leaves' is the sense of how your past always comes to haunt you.

The locations that were used in the film were very interesting which makes the film look dark and cinematic; but also serves a thematic purpose. The shots used in this film were extremely active and he made great use of space in the interiors exteriors skillfully. He uses extended long takes to raise the tension and his use of ambient noises and music is subtle and brilliant. The very first shot of the film itself is just masterful. I know there have been a lot of mixed reviews but I get why people might have a hard time following this film. It is a bit of a satire at times but takes itself very serious. To me that is what makes this film feel so unique and fresh. It doesn't spend too much time in developing its characters. Both sides in the conflict displayed unconditional sympathy. I guess it was intentional on the director's part to stage the film with a degree of moral ambiguity where the viewer has sympathy for the killer which I found very interesting. Without Adam Marino and his masterful directorial storytelling skills, this film would not work. He elevated this (already) interesting script.

To end, I'll say 'Beneath The Leaves' is a film that I would highly recommend!

Beneath the Leaves fmovies. It kept me glued to the screen to the very end, but I did not see that ending coming. Very well done movie! Paul Sorvino was terrific! Very believable. Very Real. The whole cast was great!

This was a very interesting film. It was very illuminating watching Mira & her Dad working together on a movie. I thought this movie was too direct & not enough backstory to it to develop into a 10 rating..I enjoyed the movie, the acting was outstanding, very gripping..It was too short.

The movie started out ok. I mean, I knew it was sort of a B movie to begin with, so I was ready for some good B movie action.

It was not to be.

The film quickly lost its way, meandering here and there and never really exploring anything at all.

The acting wasn't bad, but no one really stood out. The characters were shallow and not very well written.

I managed to get through it, but just barely.

I gave it 3 stars, but 2 1/2 of those are just because I like Paul Sorvino.
