This is two hours of my life i wont get back. Why a bunch of Australian actors (speaking in US accents) in an Australian funded movie would shoot a story based in New York is totally beyond me. The location is irrelevant and almost takes away from the story. The central plot about the letters is so labored as to be groan worthy. I kept waiting for some twist in the story - i am still waiting. This is a hackneyed plot that draws from so many other movies is like playing "spot the influence". (A Beautiful Mind plus many others). To top it off it the plot doesn't even make sense. Why, at the climax how does the guy run away from the police who appear to stop chasing him?? And they only fire one shot?? Plate glass windows into Grand Central station? Why does the bad guy do what he does without any warning? Avoid.

Fmovies: This movie had some great features/moments and a few flaws, but considering the B-list actors, it was very enjoyable. I am shocked at the current 5.5/10 rating and hope it increases substantially.

Let's start off with the great moments and work our way down to the few flaws.

Soundtrack: I want it! Amazing choice of music.

Directing - Paul Currie: I've never heard of this Director, and it seems this is only his second major movie directorial debut, but what an outstanding job he did! From the perfect angle shots, to the aerials looking down, the close-ups or the slow-mo shots - perfect timing and they sure set the mood on point. I feel the directing in this film is right up there with the top Hollywood Directors, so bravo Paul, excellent job and I look forward to more of your films!

Cinematography: Perfect! Clearly the Directors choices worked great with the Director of Photography's skills. The visual choices where all outstanding especially the airplane scenes, the aerial ballet and hologram art exhibit are all to be highly noted. The creative choices for the various scenes were perfect, as were the location sets.

Editing: on point throughout the entire film! I don't think there's anything that could have improved.

Sound: I have to say that 90% of the sound was excellent, although some of the close up scenes between Sarah and Dylan I felt had a very poor and amateur choice of background score.

Writing: This was a well scripted film but had a few weak plot points that became very evident with the timing of the not-so-great acting during various scenes by the lead actors.

Acting: Michiel Huisman and Sam Reid are well known for TV series shows, and not so much in major motion films like Teresa Palmer has on her resume. One would think there shouldn't be much difference in their acting capabilities, but I felt in some of the scenes, Michiel's acting started to lax, but not as much as Sam's, especially standing next to Teresa Palmer who did an amazing job.

The entire movie itself felt a little too long, and had the pace been a little faster, I feel it would have kept me in suspense longer between scenes.

I give this film a 4/5 but rounded it up to a 9/10 primarily for the outstanding direction and excellent cinematography. Oh, and the soundtrack... I kept turning up my surround sound system full blast when the great tracks came on, I definitely need to get those songs!

I enjoyed the story. It is a mix of magical mystery and romance. It is a movie where you need to pay attention to the clues given throughout so the ending has a meaning.

I've read the negative reviews like one expressing irritation that it wasn't explained. But there is a whole lot of explanation in the pieces. There isn't someone stating explicitly what happened like at the end of a British who-done-it but enough to understand yet remain affected by the mystical.

If you like cerebral movies, as in ones that make you think, then you should like this one.

2:22 fmovies. What started out as a promising film with a decent sound track at times and more than average visuals, quickly turned into the film equivalent of autism. It lulls you into a false sense of security thing "hmm you know what this may actually go somewhere"but it just doesn't, then it adds in some more details to make up for the fact it makes absolutely zero sense.

It's like the writers were high, like when you think you have a fantastic idea but really it's just the weed tricking you. The links and Blanks this film expects you to make you need to do as much writing as Dylan does on his glass panels just to make sense of any of it.

I cringed so much at times that my toes pretty much curled up, I'm a huge fan of alternative reality/time loop genre but this film just a random mixture of pointless links which in a random and bizarre way link to a star going supernova,

I'd go as far as saying one of the worst films I've ever seen

I have to admit I don't understand the extreme negativity in some of the reviews.....especially considering the amount of uninspired garbage in movie theaters these days.

Now, 2:22 is not a masterpiece, and like most movies it has weaknesses, but its strength is that it builds a sense of suspense without the usual car chases and urban shoot outs that seem to please the ADD crowds so much. The acting is solid (not Oscar material but better than hinted at in many reviews), the direction and special effects are very polished, and, more importantly, the slow accretion of mysterious details and surreal circumstances make it far more interesting, IMO, than most movies currently on offering. I think this movie also does a good job, overall, of hinting at parts of the ending but at the same time maintaining a sense of suspense about how exactly the mysterious events and patterns noticed by the main character will come together.

This is not a realistic thriller, with a clear cut plot and an ending that explains every minor thread or detail in its story, or a relentless action movies with plenty of explosions and other events that ultimately mean nothing, or a bloated love story with SF elements. Hence, I think, the disappointment of some viewers.

The way I see it this is a movie that, despite its imperfections, evolves into a subtle, psychological thriller that hints at man's endless fascination with patterns (in our Universe, in our life, in history etc) and at our sense of wonder of how we fit in it. A movie that while providing us with an interesting story also asks us to add to the plot our own interpretation of the events, and our own sense of wonder about the mystery of our existence.

Now, there is no doubt that other movies on similar topics are superior (12 monkeys and Groundhog day come to mind, among others), but I still think this is one of the few movies worth watching I've seen this year, despite its limitations. At least it asks the watcher to actually engage his brain instead of just switching off and let the explosions roll on until the cardboard cutout bad guy/guys are vanquished.

Although production values were fine, the story was confused, evolved far too slowly without a sense of progression, and ultimately never came close to an ending that merited the tedious slog through the movie.

My companion for the evening is a big (and tolerant) sci-fi fan, but she was fidgeting early on in the movie, and when a character utters the words, "I'm so sorry about tonight" I could only turn to her and repeat the line.

If you're looking for a thought-provoking sci-fi movie, you can skip this one, and if you are expecting a romance along the lines of The Time Traveler's Wife or The Lake House, the story and performances are just not compelling enough to pull that off.

Sorry, but give it a miss.
