This an Australian gorefest of something old and definitely something new in the gore department. The story involves a yuppie couple that go on a fishing trip and get off course because of a looming storm, and have to seek refuge on a small island. The island is inhabited by a family including the Daddy, Poppy, and his two demented Sons, who have a very nice crop of pot growing in one of their sheds. This is not really one of those inbred hillbilly confrontations, but it's pretty close. The couple trying to find a phone come across their house, and when the family of lunatics return, the couple are in for a bad night. After the guy's leg is broken by one of the Sons, the couple is locked in a barn, but his French lady friend turns into wonder woman, and creates some traps that work quite effectively against the nutballs. The gore scenes are outstanding, the best being a contraption that should give women with a fear of rape, a good way for prevention. To say the least, when Poppy gets his due, most men will have their legs cross, because it is clearly extremely nasty. I really like this movie, even though we have seen similar plots many times, but what makes this pretty unique are the creative kills, some of which you won't forget anytime soon. And the director throws in some hilarious hillbilly music towards the end of the movie, that seems to fit perfectly. For gorehounds especially, this is one you want for sure, I give it a big thumbs up.

Fmovies: Totally unoriginal but reasonably "enjoyable" survival horror from Australia about a couple who get lost whilst fishing and run into some very clichéd inbred backwood red necks, I suspect attempting to cash in on the superficially similar recent successes such as Wolf Creek, Wrong Turn and The Hills Have Eyes.

Any tension, threat or menace is completely destroyed by the over the top pantomime performances of the villains and the obvious studio setting used for most of the film. There is never any sense that the protagonists are in real danger nor any empathy for them, in fact I wanted to see things happen to Robert Taylor to rouse him from his comatose performance which seemed to be induced by medication.

There are however some very "satisfying" gore scenes towards the end as "vengeance" is meted out but it does seem wholly disproportionate to the ordeal of the couple, perhaps they were angered at being upstaged by three members of the local amateur dramatics society.

Don't be fooled into thinking this is an original take on the ultra realistic inbred red neck slasher survival horror sub genre, after all it is from the director of the equally unoriginal Urban Legend.

Anyone who's seen the revenge/slasher flicks of the 70's and 80's(movies like 'Last House on the Left & I spit on your Grave) are pretty familiar with this type of film. Truth be told I've seen countless of other horror films that have pretty much followed the same story line over and over again. A small group of characters are dumped into a hostile and unfamiliar environment only to encounter a presence far more terrifying. Same goes here, you have a Beautiful Young Couple who while fishing are forced to go ashore due to a brewing storm coming ahead. Only they get lost, typical right? So far nothing special. It's only when they loose themselves inland that things quickly pick up from there. As the storm brews rapidly ahead the young couple take refuge at a seemingly deserted farmhouse which unknown to them belongs to a pot growing, porno watching, trigger-happy farmer and his two demented sons. Now I've familiar with Jamie Blank's works before, the teen slasher flicks Urban Legend & Valentine. So when I was watching this film I wasn't expecting anything much different. Only problem was, I WAS BLOWN AWAY.

When you do a horror film you usually have two things going for you, 1: A Scary and Original Plot(something that's been done before, but with a twist to blow the viewer away), and 2: A Terrifying and Relentless Central Villain(in this case villains). This film has both and if it wasn't for Jamie's solid direction, he's magnificent use of camera angles, and Everett De Roche's clever script. I wouldn't of wasted my 2 cents reviewing this flick. Heck, I found this movie on the $5 shelf at my local pawn shop, can't say I was disappointed.

As with other new age horror films the gore was amped up, but I thought it worked well with the film. Not like the "Saw" films where gore is just there to be there, in this film it actually serves a purpose. I loved the music score, which Blanks composed himself(whenever they showed the house or the when the father or brothers entered they had a entrance), and more importantly I felt for the characters. Which I didn't expect to happen, usually in horror films your just waiting for the next person to die. No back story, no emotion. In this I had a hard time watching Nadia Fares being terrorized by this insane family, and knowing the husband was too weak to do anything made it even harder.

But once the storyline kicks in, it really does play out like the revenge/slasher. With these two characters fighting desperately for their lives against our central villains, a very intense battle with bloody and wickedly gruesome deaths. I had to hold on the my seat to keep from cringing, you'll understand once you see the "hook trap" and the "personal security trap" which was just pure genius.

Our two leading actors, Robert Taylor & Nadia Fares do a fairly excellent job as the young couple who find themselves in peril. But I have to give the real credit to the actors portraying the demented family, David Lyons in particular. He commanded his performance whenever he was on screen, I actually wondered at one point if he really was this crazy. I can't wait to see his other works. Along with John Brumpton who played the father. The first time we see him show up there's a flash of lightening, and just the look on his face alone told me why the sons were afraid of him, kudos! All in all I give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars rating. There's no horror film in the pas

Storm Warning fmovies. I've been watching a lot of these type of horror movies recently - Wrong Turn 2, Hostel 2, Timber Falls etc. All of them feature normal people who find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, and usually end up with some - if not all - of their limbs missing. It's been a popular horror genre since the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre came out and so it's difficult to take the premise and make it original. Is "Storm Warning" original? Not really. Is it a good movie? Yes!

"Storm Warning" begins slowly with our two main characters out fishing on their boat. They soon become lost on their way home and end up on a small island as rain clouds fill the sky above. Once they discover a seemingly abandoned house and the storm arrives, all hell then breaks loose. Despite being directed by the same man behind such awful movies as "Valentine", it's one of the better horror movies I've seen recently (and shows that director Jamie Blanks works best when he doesn't have to worry about pleasing the censors).

"Storm Warning" manages to combine elements from movies such as "Deliverance" and "Straw Dogs" to create something that is scary, gory and even funny at times. The three actors who portray the deranged antagonists are all superb and are suitably menacing. You never know quite what they're going to do next - and it's that tension that keeps you watching.

It's Nadia Fares who really sells this movie though. Her character's transition throughout "Storm Warning" is totally believable and the way in which her character eventually fights back leads to some brilliant scenes that will both surprise and entertain you. There were at least two occasions where I even found myself thinking "Oh my god! Did that really happen?"

Yes, it's not original but it's unsettling, well-acted, nicely written, very gory in places and ultimately fun. What more can you ask for from a horror movie?

A triumphant 8 out of 10.

The lawyer Rob (Robert Taylor) and his French wife Pia (Nadia Farès) rent a small motor boat to spend the day fishing at the sea. In the end of the day, Rob decides to steer the boat through marsh islands but they become lost and stranded while a storm is coming.

Rob decides to walk with Pia to find a shelter and they reach a dilapidated house with no one home. Rob also finds a decrepit greenhouse with a plantation of marijuana. Out of the blue, three rednecks arrive in the place and the abusive and deranged brothers Jimmy (David Lyons) and Brett (Mathew Wilkinson) point shotguns to them and torture Rob and Pia while their father "Poppy" (John Brumpton) goes to his room to rest. The couple soon realizes that Pia will be raped by the sadistic and they will be killed after and they decide to fight back.

"Storm Warning" is a brutal and gore slasher with an unoriginal storyline that surprisingly works well, supported by great direction and performances and excellent cinematography, special effects and camera work. The decision of Pia, when she learns that she will be raped by the rednecks, is the best moment of this highly recommended film. My vote is seven.

I had read some good reviews for this "B" movie so I decided to check it out, and I am glad that I did. The movie has a very tense feel to it that made it exciting to watch. Simple story but executed very well. I was pleasantly surprised with the acting and the directing. I've seen too many "B" movies that were horrible, but this one was impressive. It had a good atmosphere and a handful of blood and gore, which in my book is awesome. But this won't be for the easily grossed out. When the gore comes, it comes on strong and defiantly does not disappoint. I enjoyed this very much. I didn't recognize any of the actors, but they were all very good in the roles. The two main characters did a very good job making us sympathize their situation and the "bad" guys executed their parts perfectly. They were very convincing, I actually believed they were what they were portraying. Check it out if you enjoy and good quality horror/thriller flick.
