I happened to watch the trailer of this movie when i went to another movie, and found it impressive. So, i went to watch the movie, and i was blown away. I never knew much about John Hamm and after watching this movie, all i can say is he is an incredible actor. I have no idea of the historical accuracy of the events, but the direction is absolutely fantastic ! Great story telling by the director : Mark Anderson. I don't remember watching such an edge-of-the-seat thriller in recent times.
Fmovies: The film's premise crumbles spectacularly when we see scenes of Beirut, an eastern Mediterranean city that was shot on location in Tangiers, a north African city. These two cities have absolutely nothing in common, in terms of architecture, people, costumes, customs, Arabic accent ..etc. If Mr. Anderson or his location scouts have never been in Beirut to see these distinctions, does it make him a "worthy" director? Use google photos Brad, If you don't want to make the effort not to lump all countries south west of the US together.
I was a US Marine stationed at the US Embassy Beirut during the period that this movie covers. Aside from the terrible production values, virtually everything shown in this film is not remotely the way it was. Such a disappointment, as I was hoping to see some of my military years reflected in the crazy place that Beirut was during the civil war. SKIP THIS.
Beirut fmovies. Ignore the irrelevant comments and reviews, this is a terrifically told story and is entertaining. I heard that 'The Quiet Place' was filmed in a very noisy location so perhaps that deserves low reviews too.... Just go and enjoy Beirut, it's a great movie.
I am Lebanese, and lived in Lebanon in the 1970s and 1980s. First of all, this movie wasn't shot in Beirut. Beirut didn't look like this pile of ruble even during the 70s and 80s. The yellowish filter used in the movie does a great job! This movie is neither entertaining, nor is it historically accurate, so what is it really? A good propaganda film that delivers everything it promises. There was no Islamic militias during that period, all militias were secular in West Beirut, and to link the Munich Olympics massacre and real events to some fictitious character (Farid Abu Rajal) in Beirut takes the propaganda to a higher level.
All in all, I found this movie too simplistic, it is a cheesy propaganda that only simple minded people can enjoy.
Enjoy!
Not only was it an excellent adventure but the basic plot lines were plausable enough even for those who follow Middle Eastern politics closely to sit back and enjoy.
