A good example of how a great B-movie should be made.It entertains and gives the fans of it's genre straight up satisfaction without expecting the audience to take the whole story too seriously.Much like reading a good comic book. Here we have a good action comedy/drama with good action choreography and a simple plot of good versus evil and why each side does what it does. The acting is adequate and the cast chosen here was also good. The production values were all average but still, the overall flow of the movie just delivers for all those fans who understand B-action movies. This is the Swayze and Elliot I love.......

Fmovies: A complex film, evocative of an American Society of yesteryear.

A neo-nostalgic America where men settled their pent up emotional issues the proper way... drunkenly with their fists and sometimes broken bottles, and the only guy who seems to have a gun in literally the whole town for some reason is the unmistakable baddy.

Road House was also challenging social gender constructs back before tumblr was even invented... A lady doctor? I too dream of a time when such a ridiculous thing is possible.

There is even a subtle tongue in cheek head nod to the USA's skyrocketing healthcare disaster, whereby Dalton while undergoing treatment forgoes the use of local anesthetic, presumably due to its astronomical cost.

"Pain don't hurt." he nonsensically quips, obviously delirious and suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy due to his extensive history of brain trauma.

Oh Swayze you magnificence fool, pain does hurt. It hurts alot... What have they done to you?

Also there's that one scene where Daltons like bam and completely just rips that guys throat out with his bare hands, like in Rambo. So killer.

Road House, is still as relevant and politically compelling as it was the day it was made. It's gritty, it's in your face and it's uncomfortable. (I lied about the lady doctor thing, the mere thought of it makes me uncomfortable.)

Sure, its can be a little too intellectual for some; a little bit pretentious and some could argue, conceptually grandiose.

But so what?

Road house in essence is an artistic masterpiece, and as with all good art, it stakes you down and rakes your psyche over the hot coals of morality and dares you to ask the hard questions.

Questions like: Whats the deal with society, am I right? Where are all the black people in this movie? Why havent I spent more time on a lake practising shirtless oiled up Tai Chi to enhance my street fighting abilities? Damn, why Swayze smoke so much?

Road House is cinema at its finest, raw, edgy and technically magnificent, all factors which culminate in it's unarguable pride of place in the zeitgeist, and in the hearts of people who still have fake fights with imaginary baddies in the shower with super realistic noise effects and oscar worthy dialogue.

I love this movie. Why? Because it's sooo bad it's good. It dosen't

take itself too seriously (for the most part) but the lines really put

this one over the edge. "It's gonna get worse before it get's better"

""Be nice until it's time to not be nice" and "Oh baby, your gonna

be my regular Saturday night thing!" are classics of bad cinema.

The characters? All one dimensional hillbillies. The acting? Awful.

The plot? Yeah right. This movie is great because you can't take

your eyes away. What cheesy line comes next? When's the next

fight? And Who's the hot blonde? A guilty pleasure through and

through but it is fun sitting around with a bunch of guys watching

this and laughing your ass off. A great guy movie. Recommended.

Road House fmovies. The year 1989 is considered by most movie critics to be the last Golden Age of Cinema. That legendary year saw the theatrical release of three of Hollywoods most beloved films-the Hulk Hogan opus No Holds Barred, the Sylvester Stallone masterpiece Over the Top(OK, I guess that came out in 1987,but it has a totally 1989 vibe) and our current topic of discussion, Road House.

Master auteur Rowdy Herrington has taken the archetypes from ancient mythology (the hero fated to undertake an impossible task, the wise elder who guides the hero, and the villain who the hero must confront)and crafted a tale as powerful and everlasting as any of the classical myths.

Dalton, the worlds greatest (or second greatest, depending on who you ask) cooler is given the Herculean task of cleaning up the Double Deuce, a honky tonk bar so vile they sweep up eyeballs with disturbing regularity. Armed with incredible tai chi skills, Dalton completes his task, but runs afoul of Brad Wesley, the evilest man in Jasper, Mo.

Dalton soon realizes even his tai chi skills won't be enough to defeat the ascot sporting Wesley, or his army of monster truck driving, booze bottle smashing henchmen, so Dalton is forced to call in his mentor Wade Garrett (the world's greatest, or second greatest cooler, depending on who you ask)to help him defeat the forces of evil.

Will Dalton and Wade prevail? Will Brad Wesley continue to finance his evil empire by shaking down the three businessmen that operate in Jasper? All I can tell you is this--Don't be too stupid to have a good time. Put on your right boot, hop into your monster truck and head on down to the video store and make Road House your regular Saturday night thing.

"Road House" is too stupid to be taken seriously and too dumb to be funny. I don't know why people enjoy this movie. The only thing it has going for it is the nudity. There's tons of it. Otherwise, "Road House" is filled bad performances and really bad dialogue. The fight scenes are poorly staged and totally unbelievable. The biggest sin committed by "Road House" is that wastes the talents of two great actors; Sam Elliot and Ben Gazzara. I'm still shocked that this movie was a hit.

This is why I predict the American cinema and studio system will die. Nowadays it is all boring sequels and prequels and univirse films where every woman is an engineer and hates herself and is ashamed of her own body and so hides it. I am stopping my interest in (new) movies now.

Road House has brawny men, nice women, bad women, thin women, available women, fighting, music and rowdiness. And Hollywood if.you.really.really.insist there is a female physician. Happy? And she voluntarily gets on her back on the first date (should give you heart attack right there).
