The difference with this film and others similar is that they normally are not funny. I don't think I can watch another "Scary Movie". This movie was honestly different. I watched it with one of my best friends and we couldn't believe how much fun we had. On the bad side the plot is pretty basic and straight forward, there is no "crazy twists". This film simply is what it is. Don't get me wrong, it's still a decent storyline, but its the humor that makes it worth watching. I personally rarely even laugh at standard comedies like "superbad", but this movie was great. Here is an example, they are all telling truthful secrets about themselves and one guy says "I once wrote Santa a letter asking him to make me not Jewish anymore" its just random/bizzar and funny, its a must see! Watch this movie! Watch it if you have a sense of humor, and watch it if you have a group of friends with a sense of humor, you will not regret it!!!!!!!!!! BTW this was sorta a horror movie day, and out of the 5 horror movies we watched this was by far the best!

Fmovies: I began watching this film intending to count the hack plot devices and script clichés. In 5 minutes I was lost in what turned out to be a wry, witty comic horror gem. The premise is surprisingly fresh & slightly farcical. A hapless schmoe finds himself the center of a bizarre plot in which a group of hack artists plan to kill him in the name of art. Bungling chases, attempted murder, actual murder, sex, drugs, rock n' roll, & accidental maiming by fire are just a few of the mishaps and perpetrations which follow. This is offbeat, dark comedy at it's finest. The effects- fantastic. The script- witty and engaging. The story unfolded and progressed at a pleasing clip. The acting, usually the bane of the indie movie, is great. This award-winning movie is 90 minutes well-spent. There's many surprises & laugh out loud moments. I liked it so much, I bought my own copy.

This is probably one of the most original ideas for a movie i have seen in a very long time. I was entertained through most of the movie and thought some parts were just hilarious.

For his first time directing a full movie, i thought he did a very good job and the writing was great. Not one corny line throughout the whole film which is really good, Thank God.

The only criticism i have is that two or three parts were carried out for quite a bit and quickly got old. But either way the movie is great.

I recommend it to horror/comedy lovers, but if your just another tight ass about your movies, then just stay away and don't critique this just-short-of-a-masterpiece. Thank You.

Murder Party fmovies. Having just read a review that describes this as a "Jerseyites view of the NY art scene", that is both astonishingly patronising (the whole point of the movie, idiot!)and unbelievably "jejeune" (wink), I have to say how much I love this film.

"Indie" cinema has been relegated to either a kickstart for the career of a middling celebrity, or a vacuum for self referentialism or schlock."Murder Party" is neither: it is witty, genuinely left field, and kind of touching. It is black-as-black comedy rarely performed well nowadays.

A hapless, lonely but genuinely nice, traffic warden on Halloween gets captured by a group of desparado wannabe celeb artists, after responding to a "murder party" advert. They desperately want to impress a local art impresario,Alexander, by performing a murder on camera as art. I will not ruin this for you but I will tempt: the rest involves sex, drugs, a dog called hellhammer "who is part dingo", unrequited love, a Belarussian drug dealer, a fry cook, sodium pentathol and "truth and dare", and of all things, vinegar. Not tempting enough?;a brilliant reference to "The Warriors" and a Horror mask that becomes reality...note "electric chainsaw".It stabs pretension and Genre expectation with equal abandon. Closest thing to John Waters I've seen for years.

This really needs to be seen. Well acted and incredibly well made. Oh yeah, its also incredibly funny. Low budget with few locations or tricks, and shot on DV so most DVD companies passed, and it was released in the UK by a company famous for SOV tackathons. Not fair, it's brilliant and better than anything Kevin Smith has done for a decade. If You see it on the shelf, Make it a cult.

Judging by the other reviews it seems you will either love or hate this movie. As for me, I absolutely loved it. It may even be my new favorite movie. I went into this with ZERO expectations but when it was over I immediately wanted to watch it again and I did. I have never had that with any other movie.

I'm really not even sure what it is I like so much about this movie. Its just so subtle and different from all the rubbish you usually get in a horror movie. Its bloody but only when it needs to be and... It just works, everything just works for me. I cant properly express my love for this movie. I'm going to go watch it again and try to figure it out.

Basically I am going to go buy this movie now and if your sick of the usually bad horror movies you should too. Even if you don't like it someone you know will, give it to them.

I stumbled across 'Murder Party' last night on Netflix and thought it looked worth a watch. It was apparent pretty early on that this was filmed with a very low budget (the trivia section claims it was made with "no money"). The actors were unrecognisable, the sets were reasonably basic and there were not going to be any special effects at any point in the film clearly. None of that means it can't be a good film however. Hell, look at Kevin Smith's 'Clerks' for proof.

The director of 'Murder Party' has gone on to make some very well received horror/thriller films, so it very cool to see where he, Jeremy Saulnier, got his start. There are some elements to the film that would indicate there was class behind the camera. A lot of the dialogue is quite intriguing and surprisingly well written (a must for a low-budget film). Also considering the budget the horror scenes that feature later in the film were very well created. The film is short at only 80 minutes and even then feels like it could have shaved 15-20 minutes off. The pacing in the first half of the film is a slight issue. Also I wouldn't have minded seeing a more creative ending. All in all though this is a watchable enough film if you stumble across it on Netflix late one night.
