Mr. Church (2016)

If you are tempted to bypass this movie because Eddie Murphy is the "headliner" or because "Church" is in the title, dig deeper and you will find gold.

After watching this movie with my wife, I was tempted to say, "Why don't they make movies like that anymore", as if it was a movie from days gone by. I feel strongly the casting was great, the acting was great, the story is moving and inspiring. Even the "featurettes" on the DVD we rented were a great addition. They are short and to the point. They gave us just the amount of additional information we were looking for that we would have missed out on had we gone to the theater or streamed online. But regardless, that was just icing on a very classy and lovingly created cake.

Fmovies: I guess I have come full circle when it comes to Eddie Murphy movies. It was 1984, I was a newly wed and Eddie was a slightly racy movie star, but, perfect for a couples evening at the cinema! And we cried with laughter. I would never have believed that some 30 plus years later I would be watching an Eddie Murphy movie and crying in a different way. This is a fairly simple movie, easy to follow, no special effects, just the type of movie Hollywood used to do so well. I guess there is still hope. Along with Eddie there are a couple of known actors,no spoiler alert - but Eddie has aged very well! Full circle - I watch movies on my own now..

This movie was wonderful to watch and so thankful I had the opportunity to see it! A touching, caring and very moving story of humanity at its finest. To know that it's based off of a true life story makes it all the more incredible! The world would be a much better place if we all had a Mr. Church in our lives.

Eddie Murphy's deliverance of Mr. Church I believe, is his finest quality work. His portrayal of his character captivated me from the beginning. He made the film. I hope he continues in the future with movies of this caliber and beauty.

This movie is now on the top of my list of all time favorites and I will watch it again and again. It was that good.

Mr. Church fmovies. One of the trivia says: "This is the first film Eddie Murphy has done in 4 years." He has done an amazing job! It was worth waiting that long.

I have not seen a movie like this, in a while. I was all around, lookin', but it found me instead, I guess.

We all have our secrets and mysteries, and a reason behind it, which is why you should just leave it, as is, sometimes. Respect that people do not want you to dig deep. As humans, we are predestined to cross the boundaries, and break rules... but it is forgiveness that makes us greater. It is about an open heart.

A lot of things to learn from this story. Give it a try!

I aLways new Mr. Eddie Murphy had more to give us. Much like Dan Akroyd

and Billy Crystal. I only hope Eddie is doing another film dramatic at this very moment. We the fans will now have the chance to start all over again discovering and enjoying the genius of one of the finest talents to ever entertain us . This film had nothing But heart from beginning to end . I know his brother Charlie Murphy who i'm also a big fan of is very happy with this film Also. I want to say the music,lighting,costumes,casting,camera work and the writing left nothing to be desired .We all hope to see more from this great actor and all around superb performer Mr. Eddie knock them dead Murphy .

Very good screenplay. "Mr. Church" tells the story of a unique friendship that develops when a little girl and her dying mother retain the services of a talented cook - Henry Joseph Church. What begins as a six month arrangement instead spans fifteen years, and creates a family bond that lasts forever (copied from IMDb). Was blessed be invited to the Premier. Very well directed, Eddie is magnificent in his roll as Mr. Church (Oscar performance). One of the better movies you will see this year. Madison Wolfe who plays young Poppy is fantastic. Believe me you will see her in the future. Very talented actress. This film will make you cry. Lucy Fry plays the older Poppy and just kills it. You will see her in the future films as well. Make sure you see this film. It will uplift you.
