Mother/Android (2021)

When one makes a science fiction thriller, they do need to get one thing right: credibility. Does this sciencefiction world look real? Does it make me believe in another future world?

The answer is: NO

This movie looks ridiculous and then some. The "monsters" are hilariously cheap looking. And they are NOT meant to be funny.

Then there is the leading actress Chloe Moretz, who is simply a below average actress, who somehow has got a fanbase that will probably like this garbage.

Not any good? No, it's really boring, to make it all even worse. NO drama. NO thrill whatsoever...

Fmovies: So Chloe did this film called Shadow in the Cloud a year before this one. It features a woman with a small baby, trying to survive things that are trying to kill her in a misogynistic world while ineffectually protected by a weak man. In the end she rises to the occasion, saving her child. This film is basically the same, only seemingly on a much smaller budget and really falling flat. Instead of gremlins in a plane it's androids in a forest. Instead of manly but stupid flyboys she gets manly but stupid army guys. Similarities aside, I liked Shadow in the Cloud, yet I was completely unimpressed and bored with this film. And what the hell is that title? Couldn't they think of something better?

Bottom line: the movie feels amateurish and under budget, like a student film. The effects are few and far between, while the story is full of holes and completely uninspiring.

"Mother/Android" is a post apocalyptic science fiction film, but it manages to be quite slow and uneventful. It lacks tension and suspense. I was rather bored by it.

Mother/Android fmovies. I understand that some had many issues with the movie. But even those who weren't entirely convinced by it .. well some of those at least, could agree that Chloe is really amazing in this. Having said that, I do like the premise or the general idea. Not as in I like that to happen, but as a premise for an interesting movie. Even if guys in robotics development have said that this nightmare scenario in unlikely ... that is how they are going to get us.

Kidding aside (well sort of kidding I reckon), the movie has a very strange premise that robots will rise. Didn't we expect that anyway? Add to that an added bonus drama story with motherhood around the corner. It may be a bit too much suspense all at once, but it makes for some interesting scenes and choices later on. Some neat twists and quite the social commentary ... sometimes messy and incoherent though. Either you'll be forgiving about that or you'll be annoyed by it ...
