Everything looked dressed up like a 70's fancy dress, rather than trying the natural look & they obviously had zero money to spend on source music which could've been better to stamp the timeframe of it. The only slight time that I warmed to it was the very end with the social context of what the principle characters went on to achieve. Pretty disappointing & could've done & meant more rather than it trying to be a pretty little period piece, which is the exact opposite of what the film was supposed to be about.
Fmovies: Film seems to meander around and never explains itself.. some verry good acting tho
Unfortunately, this takes a regrettably simplistic approach to a subject that really could have survived much more intense - and, frankly, satirical scrutiny. Set against a backdrop of increasing frustrations by young British women with their second class status, which they perceive to be epitomised by the vacuous sexploitation of women in the "Miss World Pageant"; we see Keira Knightley ("Sally") and a feisty Jesse Buckley ("Jo") decide to take the fight to the patriarchal establishment as they plot to disrupt the show and hopefully shame the powers that be (men and women) behind it. Whilst it certainly has credentials when dealing with objectification; it fails to even attempt to seriously reconcile how aspirations amongst women (and, perhaps more importantly, women of colour) from different parts of the world - and remember we are talking 1970, here - were not necessarily in alignment with the rather linear white middle-class protest agenda presented to us here. It has all the substance of a student rebellion movie, and that's a shame. Buckley is good, and Phyllis Logan as Knightley's mother "Evelyn" brings some sense of the conflict faced by older women vis-Ã -vis career v family; but all in all, this film is at best a lukewarm hors d'oeuvres for the true, ongoing, achievements of the "women's lib" movement...
Misbehaviour fmovies. I thought it was really well written and so superbly acted. You really got a sense of who these people were even Greg Kinnear with the make up really embodied Bob Hope. I had no idea he was a womanizer!
No one remembers this event because it had no impact. Are stupid pageants gone? No. This is yet another attempt at studios to pander to a demographic to cash in on woke points. It's a shame that talented actors and actresses have to stop so low in an attempt to remain relevant.
The movie had a nice message to come across and an interesting story to present, and yet, the movie was a bit boring. The performances though were good from everyone in the cast.
