This move is every B movie action cliche except that it is foreign. If anyone remembers Streetfighter with Jean Claude then this would be almost identical.
1. Bad dialogue where people make rambling statements...check.
2. Almost every primary male character is a bodybuilder....check.
3. Almost every character is between the age of 25-40....check 4. Bad choreographed fights(who stabs overhead with hand outstretched)...check 5. Each main character is overacted...check 6. Time and space do not exist...people show up in different places at perfect times with no correlation on how they got there....check.
Fmovies: "No one sets out to make a bad movie." But they all had to know this one is. Some of the worst acting, directing, and writing you'll ever skim through. I only gave it a 3 out of charity. But they got paid; The viewer gets nothing for wasted time. However, I kind of liked the ending after all that muscle and posturing.
What an absolute sham of a movie. The fact this is rated above a 5 baffles me. It was atrocious acting, bad violence, and full of more cheesy one liners than an actual script. It looked like I filmed it on my iPhone at time. Just plain pathetic.
Last Man Down fmovies. Let me start first by saying this movie is not terrible or anything, its very watchable. I think the guys involved in the production of it are really fan of the 80s action movies like Commando and wanted to make something similar. Even the main character's name is John, probably in hommage to John Matrix. There was sadly a few issues down the road.
First, the budget. The set pieces altough very simple do the job and i didn't minded it. Where the movie lack is in the guns sound and visual effect. The weapons sound terrible and they had the bad guys wear some kind of armor so everytime they get hit all you see is some flashy sparkle that looks like it was made with a basic computer program, the kind of effects you would see in the Angry Joe show, a youtube show. Probably it was less costly than having blood splatters. It also make parts of the movie silly as most guys seem to die from bullets despite getting hit right in the armor but when the plots need it, said armor will protect you?
When it comes to acting, this ain't great but it didn't bother me too much. The main character sound a bit too much like Christian Bale's Batman voice and its a bit weird that everybody speak english with a thick accent, but hey at least it was made in english despite everybody sounding european. They tried to have a few pun and lines too wich kinda fell flat to me.
But i guess everything i just said could be passed on if the movie works... The thing is, it does not really. Remember the dumb soldier from Commando that were just as blind as the Stormtroopers? And our hero shooting everybody as they are conveniently placed? Well thats pretty much it there, only 10 times in your face. Sometimes a random bad guy will pop out of somewhere only to be shot by the hero, like some kind of on rail shooter video game script.
Its not like the hero is clever and stealthy like lets say Rambo 2, he just walk and suddenly a bad guy appear and he get shot. There is no way that dude would had survived long this way. The bad guys also come in waves after waves. I think the movie would had worked way better if there was only 10 or 12 bad guys and the hero had to go trough each cleverly and making every encounters solid and bad ass instead of dozens of disposable ennemies that look terribly stupid.
Its worth mentioning too that the lady he protect, the whole reason for the movie happening, end up killing almost as much bad guys as him? They show she knows how to handle a gun from her background sure, and after a shooting exercise she manage to hit a can, but afterward she just transform into John Wick and basically hit everybody in one shot... I was like "what is just happening?"
But despite all these flaws and thie movie being clearly made on a tiny budget, can't say i was bored per say or that i disliked it. I laugh in some parts how stupid it was, but i kept telling me thats a throwback to an era that is long past in action movies.
This movie is so bad even the nudity is rubbish!!!!
Suck the personality, characters and story out of a movie and what you have left is Last Man Down.
Arnie would not want this guy to 'Get to the chopper'!
The opening scenes I thought were pretty good, and I hoped would set up a pretty decent thriller....
Sadly they didn't, it was all downhill after that, it really doesn't work on any level. I think the writer has perhaps expressed their ideas of the Covid pandemic through this movie, and portrayed a somewhat bleak viewpoint. The story really doesn't seem to make any sense at all.
The almost sympathetic music clashes annoyingly with the gruff voice of Daniel Stisen, it really doesn't work at all.
Positives.....they are few and far between, if you're into dudes with great bodies, then you'll enjoy the many shots of Daniel Stisen's impressive physique, at times that seemed to be the only focus, it gets a little tiresome after a while. Some good action scenes I guess.
Not worth your time sadly, 4/10.
