I watched this movie last night and it was pretty decent/good! i wish more had been explored with the Spider Goddess connection to the actual spider though and maybe focus a tad less on the family/loss/grief side of things. the spider FX were very good and (i'm pretty sure) practical for the most part (there may be some CGI at the end). the acting from the mom and the actor who plays her son is notably good.

overall it's a pretty good, serious spider horror/drama movie.

oh and that poster for the film is terrible and has nothing to do with the actual movie (other than a spider).

Fmovies: I really tried to enjoy this movie. Sadly I couldn't even make it 20 minutes. The acting was just so bad and cringy. The camera work just as cringy. Not sure that the heck they were doing here.

Ok, the big spider creature looked nasty, hence it did it's part as the antagonist, but the characters and the people who played them... annoying beyond comprehension and completely unbearable (well, Bruce Davison was doing alright, not that it mattered much).

Also the pace was way too slow, except for the finale nothing was going, and even there the "action/horror" sucked.

Do yourself a favor: Watch "Arachnophobia" instead, if you're in the mood for something entertaining with spiders and actually good actors, just don't bother with this mess.

Itsy Bitsy fmovies. From start to end, it seems like a horror project made on accord, note especially the difference in daylight in consecutive scenes. a director that cant wait for the correct time to shoot scenes is not independent or good enough. well nough about that...

its a horror film pointed at the arachnophobic ones of us, which i am, but i werent scared or frightened, but some dignification shall be given to them who made the thing.

the acting are slow and at times very amateuristic, and its very badly plotted together all in all. the children shall have a badge for furnishing the new house in a blitz like speed, even though i think the social services would be gobsmacked by the neglect of the children in the start.

i must admit that im on the grumpy road of being a grumpy old man, but this was not a horror movie to remember, not for me that is, but maybe for you.

Was it a masterpiece? No.... But it was a fun movie with good acting and good creature effects. Fun little addition for this coming Halloween, one I won't mind my kids watching when they want something scary. They love scary movies but finding age appropriate ones that are not full of ridiculous amounts of nudity or sexual content isn't easy. This one was clean and had a decent enough story to be entertaining. I don't see how it has anything at all to do with the nursery rhyme as it claims however, but that aside it was worth a watch. I will give a very simple summary without giving anything away for those that are curious about the basic story line but want to watch it for themselves. It is a basic creature feature and follows that formula.

After the intro that shows the origin of where the spider came from the movie jumps to a family that is moving across country for a job. The mother is a nurse, and long story short on their end she is looking for a new start with her children from a tragic past (yes its typical I know) the man that hired her is an older, retired archeologist with a house full of antiquity. Most of it appears to be from places like Africa and Brazil. Mostly tribal looking. Things happen, the story plays out in a predictable way yet still managed to hold my attention.

There are a few very familiar faces that I like. The sheriff (Rachel Creed in the original movie version of Pet Cemetary and Lt. Yar in Star Trek: The Next Generation among other things), one of her deputy's (Stranger Things and the tv show A Series Of Unfortunate Events) and the archeologist (Kingdom Hospital, The Excorcist, tv series and countless other things) and the kids in this movie are adorable and likeable.

Overall, if you are the type of person to nitpick every single detail looking for flaws then skip this one, but if you are like me and can just have fun with a movie and enjoy it as long as the acting is decent and do not mind that its not an "original" idea or some masterpiece then give it a shot. It would make a fun movie for a movie night with friends or family, or as background for upcoming Halloween parties, or for those that love creature features, or hate spiders and like to be creeped out lol.

This is probably the most insufferable movie that i saw this year. I didn't had any expectations before watching it and i didn't even heard about the movie from anyone and after seeing it: it's not surprising that no one mentions it at all.

The story is very average and there are some moments that are very dumb and predictable; horribly written characters that it's hard to relate to; weak cinematography that doesn't have any appealing, great or memorable camera work; dialogue that was OK at best; the music was average and forgettable; the practical effects look OK, but they are not amazing or fantastic, so that it can make the movie watchable or worth watching; the sound is alright, but it does have some stock sound effects, which were distracting in some moments; very weak acting from the adult actors, but unfortunately it also includes horrible child acting, especially the little girl, who is impossible to take very seriously when she is on screen and gives the worst performance in the entire movie.

I was trying to find something positive that i can say or give to the movie, but it was impossible. It's a movie that i'll probably never going to watch ever again. So do yourself a favor and just skip it.
